The 2015-16 season saw OxVox continue to support the club financially. The committee this year decided to sponsor Chris Allen, First Team Coach. Chris had over the summer been rewarded for his fantastic work with the Youth Team by being promoted into the first team set-up, something that had been a hot topic on the terraces for some time.
Chris’ previous role had seen him oversee the Youth Team winning their respective league and overseeing the development of an array of promising youngsters, most of which, are now part of this seasons squad. Chris can be credited, along with the other backroom staff and youth coaches, for a significant upturn in youth talent.
With OxVox keen to promote this area of the club, along with other key local businesses, we wanted to sponsor Chris as recognition of his fantastic work.
We usually then look to sponsor a specific player’s home and away kit. This season we decided, following on from some feedback within the club, to support a selection of youth players in funding their football boots. The modern-day footballer, is lucky enough to be given an allowance to purchase footwear or if not, to be able to fund it themselves, but it came to our attention that this isn’t the case for the players who are trying to make their way in the game.
We, therefore, took a decision to fund a pair of football boots to each of our four young aspiring goalkeepers. With the rise of our successful womens side, playing in WSL2, we wanted to represent all of them. We were delighted to be able to fund boots for Demi Lambourne and Hannah Cox of our Women’s Super League side plus Jack Stevens and Manny Agboola from our Youth Team. We hope all four have a great season in their OxVox sponsored football boots.
